About Me and the Purpose of This Site

Hi!  My name is Nancy, and I am one of the millions of mothers who work outside the home in the United States.  This is a picture of me and my daughter at a wedding about four years ago:

I am married to the perfect man in the world for me, and have a beautiful daughter who is now 11 years old.  This is a picture of all three of us at the same wedding:

Of course, we cleaned up (well, too) for those pictures because a wedding was involved.  This picture is more indicative of our normal state:

The three of us together are also the proud owners of three extraordinary dogs.  Tyra is an Australian Shepherd mix, who we got February 14, 2004 at the age of 3.  She is intelligent, sweet and eager to please.

The second oldest dog, Mandy, is a basset hound/husky mix.  Yes, I said basset hound/husky mix.  She is a very unusual looking dog.  We got her from the humane society in October of 2007.  Mandy is laid back, very happy to graze table tops and counter tops, and very unconcerned with anyone else’s opinon of her.

Our youngest dog, Darwin, came home from the shelter in November of 2009.  He will be three on December 15, 2012.  He is a black lab/great dane mix.  He is still a work in progress, but is very intelligent and eager to please, unless Mandy has talked him into helping her with one of her peccadilloes.

With one 11 year old daughter and three dogs, there is a lot of laughter in our house.  As my husband Mark says, not a lot of rest, but a lot of laughter.  That laughter is part of what I hope to share with you in this blog.

I also work full time as a partner at a wonderful law firm that unfortunately must remain nameless, at least for now.

Like every mother who works outside the home, I have challenges and frustrations I face; some are unique to my family, others are common ones that most mothers will recognize.  This blog is also an attempt to share those with you in an amusing, light way to remind both myself and you that everything, at the end of the day, is just part of that grand adventure we call life.  I hope you enjoy reading these thoughts as much as I will enjoy writing them.

Nancy, from a small town in Alabama
